Book 12 – The beginning of the End

Hope your New Year is going well. I’ve been writing every day 2k words, I guess I should say 2k / every week day. I am happy with that, especially since my Dad has been in the hospital since the middle of October. We have been in so many hospital rooms, I feel like I can do a Trip Advisor for best places to stay… or not stay. He is doing much better. We are in the final room (I hope) the acute rehab at our local hospital. He has two more weeks of therapy there and then we get to take him home. That will be when the real work for us starts as we get to take care of him full time, I’ll be doing the morning shift, but have my laptop and hope to get my two k in during that time.

I started a story while my dad was in the hospital in Lexington, I thought when I was writing that it would be something new, and then it evolved into the beginning of Book 12. I’m at 32k words, so things are progressing nicely.

I can tell you this about book 12, it starts out in a hospital, but it doesn’t end in one.

It’s supposed to be below zero here tonight, I like the winter, but I like it much better when its around the freezing point. I hope you stay safe and enjoy your family.

Writing Goals for 2015

I don’t make resolutions, but I do make goals. My goals for the year (with my writing) is to work on getting 10k a week. The past couple of days I’ve managed to get 6k in so that is good.

I’ve started work on book 12, 22k words. My goal is to finishe books 11 and 12, then start getting the other books edited. I hope to publish at least 3 books this year and then finish the series next year.

I’ll be sharing some bits from book 12 in the coming weeks, just wanted to post this so you guys could help keep me straight.

I want to wish you and your family a Healthy New Year!

Update

I’ve had a few people ask if everything is Ok. We had some very bad flash flooding around the area where we live, but everything is ok. They say that we’re in the ring of fire, but I think we’re in the ring of torrential downpours, frequent lightning and hurricane winds. We’ve had storms about every day this week, I hope that today the ring will hit a speed bump and we’ll not get anything. The streams are already full and walking my dog in the yard is like trying to navigate through a swamp. We only live close to a small stream, so we didn’t get flooded, but several people that I know (friends and relatives) were hit. I also can’t believe how hot it’s been this week. Till now we barely had a summer with temps normally in the low 80’s, this week its been all about trying to reach the 100’s. But I’m not complaining, one day all will be perfect.

We’re continuing to work on Book 11 – I will be introducing a new character that I am enjoying quite a bit.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hope your summer is going well. I wanted to give you a quick update on what has been going on.

I finished writing Book 10 about 120,000 words or so at the end of June. I did the rough edits for Book 9. I’m going to be taking the month of July off from writing, just so I can focus on earning some extra money so August / September I can get book 6 edited. Also I’ll be going through the first four books, making sure that my notes all jive and that I don’t have anything I need to make sure and have in books 11 and 12 (besides the things I already have planned ;o)).

If you have already read our books and haven’t yet posted a review on Amazon, please do so right now, while you’re thinking about it. The more reviews we get, the better it is for all of us (especially if you like our books).

We’ll be having more freebies in July, if you have friends make sure they follow us on Facebook, so they’ll know when they are free. Here are the tentative dates.

July 18-19 Books 1-3
July 25 – 26 Book 4
August 1 – 2 Book 5.

My Dad is also on vacation during July and I have the opportunity to preach for him a couple of Sundays. You can check out the message from last Sunday if you wish – The Prize Egg or Being Content.

Just wanted to give a quick update.

First Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there.

I’ve been continuing to write on book 10 – the goal is to finish it up this month. So far we’re at about 100k words.

I’ve also been working on doing the first edits on all the books – currently I’m working on Book 9. When I get the rough edits finished, I’ll be going through them all again for their second pass. I’m still saving up some cash for the final edits on Book 6, hope to have it by the end of summer (about $1,000).

So what have you been up to this summer so far, anything fun, exciting, make sure to share it with us.

Enjoy your week.

Happy Almost May!

Hope you had a wonderful April. We’ve been busy, which is always a good thing. I just wanted to update you of a few things that will be coming up in May. My birthday is in May and we’ll be offering all of our Ebooks for free sometime during May. Also we’ll be putting all of our paperbacks on sale.

We’ll let you know all of the details both here and on our Facebook page. Another way is to sign up for our newsletter and we’ll be sure to send you a message a couple of days before the discounts are available.

So what have I been up to –

Currently I’m writing book ten, I am at about 50k words.

We’ve been working on the rough edits for all of them. I thought i would do this before we worked on publishing them. This is to ensure we don’t make a huge mistake.

We’ll be talking to you again next week so stay tuned.

Book 10 – First Words

gw-workinprogressJust wrote the first words for  book 10. Ok, the first eight thousand words. When I started writing the 12 Guardians I didn’t know how I was going to bring you twelve books. Now as the end is in sight I am worried that the last books will seem rushed. I think I have figured out what I’m going to do and who knows there may be even some additional short stores along the way.

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time reading through the other books – those that aren’t on sale yet, to make sure they all flow and go together, to add things and take away other bits that cause the stories not to flow. I’m not sure how long this process will take. I hope that book six will be available to you this summer.

If you have any friends that may like to read our books, I would encourage you to tell them about us. I hope you have a wonderful week.

Update – The Ice Storm that Wasn’t…

Been a bit since I’ve posted, just wanted to give you a quick update.

The winter storm from last week was different. The forecast had us getting up to 3/4 inch of ice. We received a tenth of an inch of ice (thank God, all those prayers helped), about four inches of sleet, and then a couple of inches of snow on top of that. It made for an interest snow, that crunched as I walked my dog. It didn’t want to go away either, so we had snow till Friday. Today it’s supposed to be 70 degrees and tomorrow we are supposed to have some snow again.

I’ve been continuing to write on Book 9. My goal is to finish this month and in April we’ll be participating in Camp Nanowrimo (it will be our third time) and the goal will be to get 90k words written in April, which should mean book 10 will be mostly finished. June and July we’ll work on finishing book 11 and then August and September will be book 12. Those are the goals anyway. I’ve learned too that if you share your goals with someone, that means that you are more likely to achieve them.

We’re editing Book 6 and saving our money so that we can get that done in April. It costs about $800+. Thankfully I’m looking at writing books as a long term investment, if I was waiting till I had made a profit, I fear I would have been still waiting after writing book 1.

That’s my update – what have you been up to.

Happy Sunday to you. Hope you have had a great day.

I thought I would send this out, we’re supposed to have a big ice storm tonight, one of those that will most likely cause the power to be off for an extended period of time (not good).

Writing is progressing nicely on book 9. We hit 100k words today on book 9. When I started writing my series I thought that I would never be able to get 12 books done. Now I’m starting to realize that I’m going to have to squeeze some things in, which is a good thing I think.

Working on editing for book 6, people are already wondering about when it is going to come out, which is a good thing, shows some interest.

One of the coolest things though is I’m on the verge of selling my 100th book. I know definitely not best seller status, but I think it is pretty awesome. I wish that I could know who the 100th person was so I could shower them with gifts, but I won’t know (I don’t think) who that person is.

Hope we don’t get any ice – follow my facebook for some pictures etc. We’ll be running some contests there in the near future to. You can find my facebook here –

Enjoy your day!
